Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Marvel's Wolverine Announced

In my almost 18 years at Insomniac Games (wow, so many?!), I've always been fascinated by how collaborative work is valued and respected at our studio. When we worked together and, more importantly, listened to each other, the result was always better.

This applies to working with other studios too. Collaborating with Marvel Games is a great joy for us. We learned from true connoisseurs, working with them on games like Marvel's Spider-Man and MARVEL Spider-Man: Miles Morales – for many of us it was the peak of our careers. The good news is that our cooperation does not end there, and today we will present you not one, but TWO new games from Insomniac Games studio in this universe – Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Marvel's Wolverine.

Let's start with the one that many of you have been waiting for: Marvel's Spider-Man 2. We're thrilled to continue the story of Peter Parker and Miles Morales in their most epic solo adventure to date, available exclusively on PlayStation 5 consoles in 2023.

In an effort to make the most of the console experience, we've put all our resources to work to come up with brand new stories for Peter and Miles. As in our previous Spider-Man games, we want to not just tell the story of a superhero, but also to tell an exciting story filled with emotions and humor of masked heroes.

Most of the developers behind Marvel's Spider-Man are back to bring you Marvel's Spider-Man 2, including Brian Intihar (Creative Director) and Ryan Smith (Director). Today's video only briefly reveals what new abilities, costumes (we'll talk about them in more detail another time) and villains are waiting for our heroes. Speaking of villains, did you understand what this phrase at the end of the video means? We are happy to announce that Tony Todd (of Candyman fame) will be voicing the Venom symbiote in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. We are also happy to welcome back Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter, who will play the roles of Peter and Miles, respectively. We've been fortunate to work with so many incredibly talented actors in the Spider-Man games and Tony has been a wonderful addition to our cast.

Now let's talk about a game you probably weren't expecting: Marvel's Wolverine. Back when we were working on Marvel's Spider-Man game, there were times when we – Insomniac, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Marvel – would brainstorm about our future without a web thrower. And even then, Wolverine was constantly mentioned as a character with whom we would love to work. A few years have passed, and now, we are ready to present a Sony Interactive Entertainment and Marvel game for the PlayStation 5 about a mutant with adamantium claws. (Since you have already watched the announcement video, you understand that the presentation went pretty well).

A lot of the guys at Insomniac are big fans of this character, and we were drawn to him because he's not that different from Spider-Man: both characters feel a lot of responsibility to protect the defenseless.

Marvel's Wolverine is a complete game from Brian Horton (Creative Director) and Cameron Christian (Game Director), who recently led the development of MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a game we're very proud of at Insomniac. While working on Spider-Man games, we aimed not only to recreate everything that made this character so popular with all due respect to the original sources, but also to introduce new ideas to give fans a new experience and stay true to the principles of the Insomniac studio. While Marvel's Wolverine is only in its early stages of development, I can already assure you that it will boast an impressive story and exciting gameplay (see what I just did?) – our team is working on something truly special. .

Creating a new original universe for Spider-Man, and now for Wolverine, is a great honor for many people from the Insomniac Games studio. Huge thanks to the Sony Interactive Entertainment family for giving us the opportunity to make games like this, Marvel for trusting us with their characters that mean so much to people, and of course our fans for their unwavering faith in us.
