Former American figure skater, sports commentator Johnny Weir commented on the doping case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva.
“I was in no hurry to comment on Valieva, as I was waiting for official details, and also because she is a minor.
I can only speak for pure Olympic Games, where all athletes without exception will comply with the highest laws of justice. All of this is devastating to our sport,” Weir tweeted.
Recall that the 15-year-old figure skater passed a positive doping test at the December Russian Championship. The International Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) insist on a temporary ban on Camila's performances.
The decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in her case is expected on February 14. And the very next day, figure skaters must present short programs in Olympic Beijing.
According to the draw, Valieva should enter the ice on Tuesday under the 26th starting number.
