The drama Fans about the Gay-Boles of Spartak was removed from the rental of the International Moscow Film Festival

The Moscow International Film Festival (MMKF) will not show the short gay drama of Seva Galkin “Fans”, write “Open Media” with reference to the director of the film.

According to Galkin, today the MMKF representative contacted him, who said that “the festival administration made a film from the show for no reason,” and advised the director to find another site instead of a movie house. The show of the picture of Seva Galkin was supposed to take place on Friday.

On the MMKF website, the film Fans is still in the schedule. Galkin found out that the film was selected for showing at the festival two weeks ago. Representatives of the MMKF refused to comment.

The plot of the short film “Fans” is based on real events and talks about how two Moscow fans of Spartak in 2016 hunt for gays for the purpose of robbery and murders. As the author himself says, his film Explits the crisis of masculinity and the consequences of homophobic rhetoric in state media.

In the story, two guys hunt gays, but by the middle of the film it becomes clear that they also have a relationship with each other, says Galkin. “I do not know that the administration of the film festival was more strained. There is also such a background: in the film there is a television propaganda in the film, on TV they show either about the war in the Donbass, then about gay parades. This is a film about life, without evaluative judgments, ”the director insists.
