A good program requires a set that is up to par. It is the place where everything happens, so it must be striking and recognizable. But not only that, the usual rhythm of television productions requires solutions:

personalized
slightly problematic
clean
Easy to mount and dismount
sustainable
Cardboard is the material that meets all these requirements. Let’s see some examples of sets for television programs with our header material.

Design of scenarios in times of streaming

We have been living with streaming for a long time, but in recent months this type of retransmission has experienced a great boom.

The reason? Another type of coexistence, in this case forced, with the coronavirus.

The needs of the events have changed and from the Association of Designers of the Valencian Community (ACDV) they were very aware of it. His ‘EnCircular Economy’ sessions required a special format. The cardboard facilitated the success of his proposal.

With 25 sheets of FSC certified cardboard, 30 hours of design and 4 hours of assembly between 2 people, a set was created for 4 days of dissemination around sustainability.

The set included a surrounding structure of 48 rings, each one with a tonality, based on the eight colors of the image of the event. And a very resistant circular bench that is just as colourful.

All a success!

Faceted elements with video mapping
Have you heard of video mapping? Surely yes. It is about projecting video and light effects on real surfaces, achieving an artistic effect.

El decorado de ‘Cuando ya no esté’ para Movistar + es un buen ejemplo. Un soporte funcional, pero de estética futurista, sobre el que proyectar cambios de color, infografías y vídeo de apoyo a la retransmisión.

The polygonal shapes of the set, ideal for video mapping

It is the first time that video mapping is introduced in the sets for television programs in Spain. So we bet on the most spectacular support possible, playing with the volumes. The center table in the studio and the stools in the audience fit in with the set and completed the overall aesthetic.

A la carte cardboard cutouts

We design cardboard figures of almost anything that comes to mind. Animals, iconic characters, thematic objects… You propose and we take care of materializing your idea. It can be pulled from the catalog or created from scratch, adjusting to the needs of each set.

The work done for ‘La Noche D’ is a good example. This is a RTVE program presented by Dani Rovira in prime time. A very suitable context for the visibility of our designs, but also a great challenge. These types of productions involve many departments working at breakneck speed. There are times to meet.

Each week there is a background theme and the cardboard cutout is related to it. In this case, a whole exercise of adaptation to short deadlines. You have to design, produce, assemble and deliver in a few days. And it is achieved thanks to the cardboard design and its ability to adjust processes when time is short.

In the case of ‘B.S.O.’ with Emilio Aragón, which is broadcast on Movistar +, his art team asked us for figures for two programs. The first design was a giant banana inspired by Warhol’s cover for the Velvet Underground. He was in the background throughout the program dedicated to the Javis.

The second creative challenge was a bit more surreal, as we were asked for a giraffe holding a chandelier as part of the set for the Alaska interview. In the end it turned out very well, lighting up even the concert at the end of the program.

Giant screens and corporeal letters

‘Your face doesn’t sound familiar to me yet’ is a program produced by Gestmusic that is broadcast on Antena 3 TV. We were entrusted with the structural design and production of the casting recording set, in Madrid and Barcelona.

The main element of the setting was the back of the stage, a lattice screen. It was built thanks to a simple system of cardboard panels fitted together.

The pieces were printed in full color, so that once assembled, the program logo could be read from certain points of view.

We design everything in cardboard, which allows quick construction without noise, odors, or waste. In addition, the elements are light, reusable, easily removable and can be stored flat for later use.

Las letras corpóreas con las iniciales del programa se elaboraron con varias capas de cartón nido de abeja superpuestas. Daban muy bien en cámara y no requerían de soporte extra una vez alcanzaron el grosor estimado en el diseño.
